CHRISTMAS SEVA PROJECT at SHANTI HOUSE!

Hello Dear Shanti House Family!

 First of all, thank you all so much for supporting our Thanksgiving Seva Project at the “Bread and Roses Café”. We will put a report up on our web page, soon, of how wonderfully it all went.

 And now, onto our Christmas Seva!!

ADOPT-A-FAMILY or INDIVIDUAL PROGRAM through St. Joseph Center.

This Holy Days time, give a gift of comfort and love to those in need. It only costs $40 to adopt a person so they may have food for Holiday cheer and receive a gift from their wish list. Many are seniors who live alone or those working hard to leave homelessness behind. Most families in need in the community, with children, have already been adopted, and so Shanti House is stepping in to care for our elders as well as some families who have been left behind.

Our goal is to adopt 108 individuals by December 10! Please make your pledge to donate and/or volunteer by emailing volunteer@shantihousela.org or calling (310) 464-3475. The time to act is NOW!

How to participate (you do not need to take both “steps”, but One is important so we can have the funds to adopt the individuals):

   Step One….

• Make a donation to Shanti House  – all donations are tax deductible.
• Instead of material gifts to family and friends, make a donation on their behalf. It is the greatest gift to offer love and kindness to ones in need.
• Call on your own community of friends and workers to donate and adopt individuals through Shanti House.

   Step Two….

1. Volunteer to be part of the Shopping Committee, on Saturday, December 15 – we need volunteers to take the wish lists of all the people we have adopted and buy the gifts, then drop them off on Monday morning at St. Joseph Center in Santa Monica.
2. Volunteer to sort and wrap the gifts at St. Joseph Center, on:

• Wednesday, December 12, 10am – 7pm
• Thursday, December 13, 10am – 3pm
• Friday, December 14, 10am – 3pm
• Monday, December 17, 10am – 3pm (most needed shift)

   3.  Volunteer to distribute gifts at the St. Joseph Family Center on:

• Tuesday, December 18, 10am – 4pm
• Wednesday, December 19, 10am – 6pm
